October Wrap Up!

It’s been a crazy month! Probably the craziest of this year and I’m so glad that it’s finally over! 🙂 So I just read three books this month. And i think it’s pretty decent looking back into all the work that needed to be done in October. Yeah, 3 books is totally decent don’t you think? #not

Anyway, I will just have a quick wrap up here and have mini reviews for each ‘coz that’s what wrap ups are all about, right? 🙂 So here goes!

1. Wait for You by J.Lynn

The Boklander Rating5 Stars

51Px8KMalTL._SX331_BO1,204,203,200_I gave it a 4.5 actually but I don’t mind rounding it up to five (primarily because I don’t know how to make half stars! Haha) 🙂

Let me start by saying that Jeniffer L. Armentrout is the queen! SHE. IS. THE. QUEEN.
OMG GUYS. It’s been a while since I have read a new adult book that made me feel all the emotions I could possibly feel!!! I probably won’t be able to make a proper review here because all you’re going to see is me gushing over Cam and Avery! And I’m just putting it out there that not even once did I doubt this book! I knew I was gonna love it, and I knew it was gonna be the awesomest. And good heavens, it did not disappoint! I WAS FREAKIN’ RIGHT!!! Because if there is a feeling more than LOVE, then I am definitely feeling that one!

The characters. I think these two, Avery and Cam, will stay with me for a long long time. I loved the character development, the individual internal conflicts, the emotions that are just so raw and so real. I totally felt Avery’s hurts and pains from her past and Cam’s eternal want to get into Avery’s mind. I guess their own individual issues are what made this book different from other New Adult titles, because there was so much depth in this story.

I mean, yeah it’s not the sort that changes your life forever, but it’s one that would make you hope again, and believe again, and just give you all the good feels!

AND! They are just so good for each other! And I loved loved every bit of this book!

2. On the Fence by Kasie West

The Boklander Rating4 Stars

On-the-Fence

4 stars! Gah. This book, guys! I can’t believe I only discovered Kasie West, and I can’t believe I’ve waited so long to read one of her works!
On the Fence is my book club’s October book of the month, and quite frankly, I did not expect a lot from this one. I thought it would just be your typical YA contemporary with a beginning, a conflict, an underdeveloped romance and an ending. In short, I thought it was gonna be a 2-star read!

But man! WHAT EVEN! I can’t even describe how wrong I was!

I loved every page, every chapter, and every one in this book! Even the minor characters were so relatable and close to home that I could relate to them! 🙂 It was such a perfect package for those of you who wants to have good dose of contemporary romance!

The build up was good, the ending was sooooo good – I just had one issue and that was the reason why it did not get 5 perfect stars from me. The peak – that moment that Charlie realized she was in love with Braden. (This is not a spoiler, so worry not!) I just think the realization was a bit rushed and I don’t know – the timing is just not right, as well as the setting. It could have been fleshed out more in my opinion. But hey, I guesss it doesn’t matter now, ‘coz what was lacking in this particular peak was compensated, oh definitely compensated!, in the latter part of the story! Braden and Charlie were just, aaaah, perfect!!! I can’t stop gushing!

3. I’ve Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella

The Boklander Rating4 Stars

2-_ive_got_your_number

4 stars! 🙂 This is a surprisingly pleasant read! 🙂 I’ve Got Your Number is my first ever Sophie Kinsella novel and honestly, I had very very low expectations! I mean, I know Sophie is a good writer, and I know the Shopaholic series is just super well-known and well-loved by many, but I thought it won’t suit my taste – I don’t know the reason behind this mindset actually, but I thought it’s just going to be a so-so read. Not very good – but not too bad either. Probably a 2.5 at most.

But boy was I wrong!

Poppy Wyatt and Sam Roxton made me laugh, and giggle, and smile, and just be all over the place in such a good way! 🙂

At first, things are kinda unfolding slow, and everything is just about Poppy and her upcoming wedding and her bluffs. Very little traces of Sam, to none at all! And I was like, hey come on give me more of Sam Roxton! I was already kinda getting disappointed but when Sam was finally in the picture, siiiigh.

Although some of the scenes are just too convenient for the plot, it did not affect my perception of the story at all. It was light and fluffy and oh just all the good vibes!

If you are having a bad day, this one will definitely turn that frown into smiles – even giggles! 🙂

October TBR!

Whoa. I cannot believe it’s October already, which means September is over (duh, Kat) and we’re only a couple of months away from December! OMG! It’s Christmas! It’s Christmas!

Anyway, before I get too excited here, I just wanna share with you guys my October TBR. I am not reading a lot this month because I have a thesis to defend in the middle of October and I sure won’t be reading fiction come that week. (Please pray for my defense, guys! Huhu. I really hope it turns out well.) So what I have here is a couple of books to finish and a couple to start, and that’s it! I won’t even try to aspire to read more this month because it’s going to be hectic. Also, you might notice that what I have on my list are all contemporaries and light reads, and that’s because I really don’t wanna deal with a lot of heavy stuff this month. I want everything to just be nice and warm and fluffy! 🙂 So here goes!

 1. Wait for You by Jeniffer L. Armentrout

I’m halfway through Wait For You and what can I say, guys? I am genuinely loving each page of this book! It’s hilarious and sweet and all mushy but with substance and depth. Do you get what I mean? I know you do. ❤ If I don’t have too much school work, I know I’ll be finishing this in one day, but again, things are going cray and it’s been days since I started reading this one. I just wanna finish it already coz I can’t wait to see what happens with Cam and Avery! ❤

Anyway, here’s the Goodreads blurb:

2. I’ve Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella

This is my first ever Sophie Kinsella read. I kinda peeked into it and started reading the first couple of chapters and gah, I know I’m going to love it! It’s the very book I need this month – so light and so funny! Now I know why Sophie is the queen of chick lit. I never grew up reading her Shopaholic series because I thought they were too shallow and all. But I guess that assumption is going to have to be turned over now, coz I’ve Got Your Number has totally got me smitten. I’m sure I’ll be picking up more of her works in the future!

Oh and by the way, I’ve got my copy from a Book Blind Date sponsored by Bookbed.org. Readers from all over the Philippines sorta exchanged books and it was so much fun! You can read more about the exchange here.

3. On the Fence by Kasie West

This is my Rainbow Book Club’s book of the month! And I am so excited because I think this is the first YA contemporary that’s become the book of the month! 🙂 Also, it matches my October theme of reading light and romance-y novels, so yay! Fits perfectly well in my TBR!

Anyway, I have never read a Kasie West work, ever, but I’ve seen her books a lot in the bookstores. Their covers are cute and their plots are usually your typical YA contemporary plots. I don’t know yet, however, how she does her twists or how she makes her stories unique from the others. I have yet to see with this one! I’m definitely excited to read this!

4. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

This last book in my TBR has been sitting in my shelf for like forever. And I mean, forever with a capital F! Ugh. I know I bought this early this year and I just could not understand why I have not read it at all! I’ve always been meaning to pick it up and it’s been part of my other monthly TBRs, but I don’t pick it up and I don’t even get why. 🙂 Haha. Anyway, I’m definitely definitely going to read it this month already!

So that’s my October TBR and I would love to hear what’s on your list in comments box! 🙂

Happy reading always!
