Kissing 2020 Hello!

I know it’s kinda late to be posting resolutions and all since we’re already a couple of weeks into 2020, but for accountability purposes I’m still doing it so I could just have something to look back to when December comes.

I honestly am not a resolutions kind of girl since I know in myself that I don’t actually get to do and keep them. But it’s the new decade, and I’m feeling the need to be more *disciplined?* in all that I do from hereon forward. So yeah. Here we go.

I don’t need to always be updated on Facebook. *DELETES APP*.

I can say that during the last decade, I have totally been consumed by social media, especially by that big blue F. Hence, I always know things about people – where they went for vacation, the new car they bought, breakups, new relationships, etc – that I now realize I don’t need to know about. While Facebook is great in connecting people – oh, I’d definitely give it that – I realized that there are just so many UNNECESSARY things that I am bombarded with when I do my scrolling. Things that my brain would sometimes process as important and relevant, but in reality are just posted there to intimidate, make one feel insecure about himself/herself, or just plain useless. Hence, I’m doing my brain a favor and am freeing it this year with some Facebook space. Yay.

I love reading and collecting books, but I need to finish reading at least half of what I own yet! In short, *NO BOOK BUYING*

Oh god, buying and collecting books are my Achilles’ heel(s?) and this probably is one of the most painful resolutions I am doing this year.

Let me paint you a clear *literal* picture:

These are all the unreads in my shelf. They are around 85 and for the love of god, I will not allow them to reach a hundred by buying more. *Unless of course I am gifted with books, that is na exeception and that would be very much welcome* Anyway, I am not buying anymore books for the first quarter of the year or until my unreads has reached 65, I guess? Lord help me.

Minimalism actually feels right and sustainable.

I have recently been listening to some podcasts and TED talks about minimalism, and I am slowly getting inclined to practice it. Marie Kondo’s Netflix show is a big convincing factor too. However, I feel like I have so much to dispose and this is going to be a loooong minimalism journey for me, so for this year I plan to start small – less purchases of unnecessary things, cleaning up my room and donating stuff I don’t need – just the small steps. I’ll get there. 😉

To be more informed and to go out of my shell.

I guess I just have to be more involved in what’s happening around me and to not totally be consumed by fiction and Netflix (*curls up in guilt*). Need to go out more, interact with people, be in the know re: current event, etc. You, know. Get more mature? Yes.

That’s all for now folks! Hit me up in the comments section for your own resolutions that you wanna share – as I wanna do them too? He he. Have a blast this 2020!

Christmas 2019 at Wind Residences!

We spent our Christmas 2019 at Wind Residences, Tagaytay through AirBnb and it was such a great experience.

Spending Christmas in the highlands was a last minute decision as we initially planned to just spend it at home since Dad and Gil are both away this year. So when Mama agreed that we just spend Christmas in Tagaytay, I immediately looked for hotel accommodations but grandly failed to book any because it’s peak season. Hence, I turned to the ever trustworthy AirBnb and lo and behold, I found a hotel-like listing at Wind Residences! 🙂

This condo unit was listed at AirBnb as “SkyWind Tagaytay (Taal View, W/ Parking, Netflix)”. In sum, I super recommend this place if you’re staying in the highlands. Rio – the owner – was super quick in her responses to our queries. The unit was very well-maintained and according to its owners, it was actually designed like a hotel room so that their guests would feel like they’re actually checked-in to one.

We had such a lovely  stay here, and Mama and I even had our traditional ensaymada and hot chocolate on Christmas morning:

We had a very simple Christmas this year. Met up with the rest of Mama’s side of the family later in the day for lunch in Nuvali, and headed home right after ‘coz Typhoon Ursula is at signal number 3 already! *Yikes* I can’t believe I was able to drive Mama and Celine home safely considering that it was my first time to drive to the highlands! Hehe.

Hope you guys had a peaceful, meaningful and happy Christmas too! 🙂

Thank you, 2019! Cheers to 2020!

HAY, 2019! What a year you have been! It has surely been a roller-coaster of emotions but all the good definitely outweighed the crazy and the bad.

2019 was a year of uprooting for me.

I got uprooted from my work of almost three years as an associate and transferred to a totally new playing field – the judiciary. I got uprooted from my home of 5 years, and went back to living with my family in Batangas. I now drive (which I never imagined myself doing *ever* what with the convenience of Grab and Uber and sometimes my own personal driver for work); I just bought my own car (which wasn’t really part of the plan and which sounds superrrr crazy to me ‘coz I don’t drive nga and just thinking about the monthly installment is making me insane ). Things just kept happening, and blessings just kept on pouring, and there was nothing left to do but to just take it all in and give thanks.

It was good year of travel too. Traveled to Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, and Thailand. Not so much locally, though. Just the usual hour drive to Tagaytay with friends and family during some weekends.

Finally, despite all the *overwhelming* new things that’s happening in my life all through out the year, 2019 made me realize that I wouldn’t trade anything for my constants. My parents ~ Daddy and Mama ~ my siblings, Gil and Celine, Yna and the rest of the family, and my ultimate soul mate, Ed. They have been my constant source of happiness (and sakit sa ulo sometimes, but never mind that) and everything is just meaningless without them.

Thank you, 2019. You have been so good. Cheers to 2020! Praying for an equally, if not more, blessed new year!

I Passed the Bar Exams!!!

It’s been six days since  the results of the Bar Exams came out and I still can’t believe I made it. I’m still in daze, like it hasn’t sunk in yet. I don’t know if it will ever sink in; it’s so surreal. So wait, is this real life? Am I really a lawyer now?

If you’re from the Philippines, you’d know how much pressure bar takers go through each year. Pegged as the “most difficult professional examination in the country” (even internationally, really!), the chances of passing the Philippine Bar Exams are very slim. The average number of Bar takers is usually at 6,000, and the passing rate would, on the average, only be less than 20% or at least 1,000. I know. What even, right? I got an Instax Share SP2!

Oh, what joy!

See I have long been wanting to own an Instax but I honestly don’t find it practical to bring it everywhere because of its size, which I think defeats its purpose of capturing random bits of life as they go popping up. So no matter how badly I wanted to get an Instax camera, I never did.

So imagine what joy I felt when I learned in 2015 that Fujifilm released Instax Share – a smart phone Instax printer! Never got to buy that year though as I was so much pre-occupied with law school.

Anyway, fast forward to today, I am so thrilled to finally have the latest Instax Share SP-2 model in my hands! The bonus? I got the gold one. My heart is dancing.  Continue reading “I got an Instax Share SP2!”
