2020 hasn’t exactly been a pleasant year so far and I really hope we’ll have a hundred and eighty degree turn soon. Reading-wise, though, things look a little brighter for me although I have only read 23 books to date. 😉 Here’s my mid year book freak out post aka pardon me if almost all my answers are related to MEGHAN QUINN and her books! 😉
1. Best book you’ve read so far in 2019?
That Second Chance by Meghan Quinn
The best book that I’ve read so far this year is one that re-ignited my love for reading small-town contemporary romances. That Second Chance reminded me so much of the time when I was just starting to read and was always so fully immersed in everything I sink my brain into. Being a lover of small towns and the countryside in general, I found so much comfort *and yes, peace* in reading about Port Snow. Can’t wait to get into the last installment of this series which is going to be published this year!
2. Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2019?
The Governess Game by Tessa Dare
Tessa Dare’s Girl Meets Duke series is one that I totally recommend for historical romance readers. I loved the first book The Duchess Deal, but I especially loved the second book, The Governess Game. It’s the romance between Chase Reynaud, guardian to two girls and their governess Alexandra Mountbatten. I loved the never-ending banter and the just how fun everything was in this book!
3. New release you haven’t read yet, but want to?
Easy. THE QUEEN MOVE by Kennedy Ryan. I already have this book but I haven’t read the first one in the *series?* I really intend to read it before this month ends and I really hope I’d follow through.
4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year
Lemme just get back to you on this one, ha ha. I’m presently too lazy to look into the new releases for the second half of 2020, but i”m definitely making a post about it!
5. Biggest disappointment?
Don’t hate me on this but…
Okay here it is.
The Cold Hearted Rake by Lisa Kleypas. I have such high hopes for this because duh it’s the great LK, but I just found everything so superficial and unrelatable. I tried, believe me but I just couldn’t get into it. It was a surprise I even finished the book (I skimmed mostly!) and I don’t know if I’d still be continuing the series.
6. Biggest surprise?
The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella. This is my first Kinsella in a loooong time (I have only read 2 of her works, I guuess?) and I was blown away! I loved it! I’d admit that I have pre-judged the author based on the covers of her books, thinking that there’s not much depth in them but reading The Undomestic Goddess, I realized that Sophie Kinsella definitely has a lot to offer! I can’t wait to binge read her other works!
7. Favorite new author (debut or new to you)?
MEGHAN QUINN, hands down. I’ve only discovered her this year but she’s jumped up to my Top 5 Favorite Authors of All-Time list! Love her small-town contemporary romances!
8. Newest fictional crush?
Reed Eastwood. I’m still currently reading LOVE NOTES by Vi Keeland on the date this post is published, but no doubt Reed Eastwood is going to stay with me for a loooong time. He’s just so perfect. So freaking perfect.
9. Newest favorite character?
Alexandra Mountbatten from the Governess Game. She’s everything I want to be! Love her!
10. Book that made you cry
I re-read CHAMPION by Marie Lu this year and I still sobbed like a baby when I got to the last quarter of the book. It’s still the best in the trilogy and I can’t wait finish Rebel soon!
11. Book that made you happy?
THAT SECOND CHANCE by Meghan Quinn is the best book that I’ve read in 2020, and is also the book that made me so happy. Just the thought of Port Snow as I type this post brings back a huge smile on my face and warmth to my heart.
12. Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received)?
Everything that I’ve bought during the three-month quarantine period! I loved everything that I got and they all so look together!
13.What books do you need to read by the end of the year?
You mean you need a photo of my bookshelf?
14. Favorite book community member?
I always go back to the videos/content created by Ariel and Reagan. They are my two ultimate fave booktubers!
Soooo, that’s my reading so far. So many Meghan Quinn and That Second Chance answers, I know! But discovering her and her books are probably the best part of my reading year.
Would love to know what your favorite books in 2020 are?
