Our sassy heroine Bailey is a surgical assistant who’s currently struggling to make ends meet. Having just been laid off by her retiring boss, she is left without a choice  but to work under the cold-blooded, too-cocky-for-his-own-good (but a real hotshot!) Dr. Russel.

Bailey here sort of a single mom because ever since her parents died, she was left to take care of her really sweet and really smart teenage sister Josie, who, I’m telling you, has a very very likable personality of her own.

“The curvature in her back is severe enough that the procedure would prove difficult even for the top pediatric spinal surgeons in the world. Fortunately for her and her parents, I’m one of them.”

My, oh, my! This hot surgeon we have for a hero is Matt Russell, and he is perfection! I never knew I have a weakness for smart doctors until I met Matt.

“I have a little hero complex of my own and an ego that could fill this entire room, but it’s necessary. Who wants to put their kid’s spine in the hands of a simpering fool who buckles under pressure?”

And guess what, he actually likes kids and has a really soft spot for them. He practices pediatric spinal surgery and it’s just totally adorable. I mean? A doctor? Who loves children? Yes and yes! Talk about perfect combination. On the outside, Matt is cold-hearted and the personification of evil. He’s had had too many surgical assistants but none of them lasted long  because like I said, evil. Despite the attitude, though, Matt is one of the best pediatric spinal surgeons in the country (in the world even?) and you will just love how smart and professional he is.

I’m so glad that I picked this book up at the time that I needed to read something light and fun because it definitely delivered. With all that’s happening in the world right now because of the corona virus, it was a good diversion at least. I loved that there were so many hospital/OR scenes so I felt like I was watching Grey’s Anatomy the whole time. What a great treat that was!  And while most of NA heroes and heroines are easily forgettable and can get easily mixed up with the others, our pair here, in my opinion, is one that I would not forget for a while.

I would totally recommend that you guys pick this book up if you want to read about a HOT doctor and a very sassy, very likable-I-would-love-to-be-her-best-friend heroine. The minor characters are totally lovable as well, and I swear to you no page is wasted in this book. Such a lovely, light, fluffy read!

I buddy-read this with Bea from Confessions of a Pinay Bookaholic and I am so glad to report that we both loved it!
