I was tagged by my good friend Beatrice to do this tag and I cannot be more thankful because I loooove doing tags, and I looooove the romance genre! ❤ So here are the questions and my quick answers to each of them:
What age did you start to read romance novels?
I was in 6th grade when I started reading romance novels, so I’m probably about 12 years old. Ha! Too young for romance! It all started with Baby Dreams by Maxine Paetro, which I bought during a field trip, and I vividly remember my young self devouring it, and feeling such a grown-up when I finished! 😉
(Oh by the way, it’s just dawned upon me that the first legit novel that I read was authored by Mr. Patterson’s co-author in majority of his works?! OMG Maxine Paetro! I was a badass 12-year old, oh my.)
If you could pick one hero to meet from your favorite romance novels who would it be and why?
Hands down Drew fucking Evans. God, this guy. I have witnessed his transformation from books one through four of tangled series and what can I say? I just fell in love with Drew – his flaws, imperfections and all. He’s blazing hot as hell, too, so there’s that. 😉
Who are your favorite romance authors and why?
Well, it’s good that the question says “ARE” because really, I have plenty!
In the New Adult/Contemporary-Romance genre, I’m a total trash for the works of Emma Chase, Elle Kennedy, Colleen Hoover, and Jennifer L. Armentrout. I’m sure there’s a lot more to be included here but my brain fails me at the moment.
In the Historical Romance genre, oh god, I have plenty – but the ultimate list would include Julia Quinn, Lisa Kleypas, Eloisa James, and Tessa Dare.
Finally, in the general fiction-romance genre, Sandra Brown is my everything. She just started it all for me. 🙂 Of course, Nicholas Sparks, Judith McNaught, and Taylor Jenkins Reid are in the list too. Ah, I have so many I’m sure I’m skipping a hundred in this list!
What is a favorite romance novel to re-read?
Hmm. This is tough because I don’t normally re-read books! But I’d love to re-read the Tangled series and all it’s novellas. I just have a special affection for all the characters in this series and I’d love to revisit them all. Oh and the Bridgerton series by Julia Quinn, too! This series started my love for historical romance when I was sixteen. Oh, those beautiful Bridgerton siblings!
What book would you recommend to a non-romance reader?
My recommendations might appear heavy for a romance novel newb, but I’d totally suggest reading One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid and Maybe Someday and Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover. I know, you’re gonna bawl your eyes out when you read them, but they’re like the best representations of romance and love! Listen to me and pick ‘em up, please?
Which is your favorite, contemporary, suspense, or historical and why?
I can’t and won’t choose amongst the three because these are basically the romance genre triumvirate! Contemporary romance fuels me – and I swear it really does – whenever I’m so swamped with work and need a little (a lot!) of diversion, I turn to my fast-read contemporary romances.
Historical romance, on the other hand, was the only genre I was reading in my four years in college! I have a lot of choices, I know, but I would always turn to historical romance like my life depends on it.
Finally, romantic suspense, man, is where it all started. Sandra Brown and all her works were my high school refuge. I remember saving so much of my allowance so I can buy second hand Sandra Brown books. I lived for romantic suspense when I was so much younger!
So that’s it, I know there are some people who are raising brows over this genre but I guess that’s a whole new discussion to post about. I hope this post somehow inspired you to pick some of the titles and up 🙂 And if you’ve been into the romance genre already, please leave some recommendations below!! I would totally appreciate it! ❤
