Book Talk: It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

My usual MO is that I review books right after I read them so that I still have all the feels and I can just sort of rave (or rant) endlessly about it. I purposely chose to review It Ends With Us, however, a week after finishing it, because I don’t wanna be all biased, Coho being one of my favorite authors out there.

This quick review might contain some spoilers, and I advise you not to continue reading if you haven’t read the book.

To start off, this is another solid CoHo writing and I admire how she can be so frustratingly good in making her characters so dear to her readers’ hearts. I read It Ends With Us without really knowing anything about it – did not read the back summary, the blurbs, or whatever review of any kind. I just stayed away from all them. Long story short, I was so clueless about this book, I didn’t even know the name of the characters.

Needless to say, I became such a huge shipper of Lily and Ryle – the way they met, the way their relationship developed and how they initially tried to hide it – it was all so perfect to me. I loved Lily so much, and I loved Ryle much even more. I knew nothing could ever tear them apart especially when they got married. My heart was so full and I was looking forward to some happy CoHo ending.

Then the fighting happened. And the hurting. And oh my god, I honestly felt my heart physically ache for Lily each time. I don’t have any experience about abuse and all, but I honestly felt every pain Lily did. I was scared when she was scared. I was thinking of forgiving Ryle when she was thinking that too. I was angry when she was angry. Every single emotion, especially that of pain and anger, I felt in the last pages of this book.

With this book, I realized how people would always, and I mean always, have the strength to recover even from the most devastating experiences that can happen to them.

This is such a beautiful tale of romance, second chances, and (allow me to say the cheesiest thing ever) true love. I have no more words, I just love it so much.

  1. IEWU was my first Coho book, and I loved it. I’ve read a couple of others by her, and I think this one is still my favorite. Atlas has my heart forever. I love the addition of Ellen. So perfect. Love this book so much.

    1. Oh Kat. This is so true for me too!! I was angry but at the same time, I was trying to understand where Ryle was coming from. It was such a heartbreaking situation. 😦

  2. Love the review, Kat! I honestly felt the same for the book. At one point I felt as though I was being cheated but I realized, CoHo was just trying to be true. I could never get tired of CoHos. Have you read Without Merit yet? I super liked it too! Very different from her usual NAs, it’s actually very YA. 🙂

    1. Me too! I loooove CoHo! But I haven’t gotten Without Merit in my hands yet! 😦 I’m planning to read it this December! I heard it’s more like YA than NA nga, but I’m still hopeful it would be as beautiful! ❤
